It’s been a while since I shot an elaborate photo story outside of home. The comfort of shooting in controlled environments with studio lights can sometimes take away the thrill of creating in places not your own. The thoughts and inspiration behind the making of a place, the emotion it exudes, the interiors, the light that falls into the space adds a unique character and translates into the images.
For anyone who has been following me for long would know I’m a sucker for the color black. I couldn’t have not planned a visit to Trueblack, a café done tastefully and designed with an eye for art, design, minimalism and beauty. The aroma of their coffee and delectable toasts make it a perfect place for a coffee date or a work from café day.
To shoot something at a café was to take inspiration from the younger Naznin who would pull off shooting 7-8 changes at a stretch hopping between locations and roll out a blogpost every week with stories to tell, feelings to pour out.
Looking at my younger self, yet again, and trying to bring her (wiser version) back. She loved being her and so did I.
Bidding adieu to winters with my favourite coat from Valtta and a cup of cappuccino, both served in black.
