A DAY WITH CLAY

Spending time at home since last year made me reminisce about how I loved working at a cafe (yes, I did work at a cafe) because of how it smelled, how I liked visiting a specific spa that smelled so beautiful and relaxing. It's interesting how fragrances add to the ambience of a place and elevate our moods. The lockdown this year made me want to try fragrances for home in the form of candles, incense and aroma oils to keep the dullness at bay. And with three furry friends in the house currently, the need to keep our space clean and smelling fresh has been even more on top priority off late. The collaboration with Clay happened around the same time after conversations with the kindest Sneh, the Founder of the brand. We spoke about the preference of aroma oils for my living space and went ahead with lemongrass oil that's known for rejuvenating and purifying, and peppermint oil for awakening and stimulating the mind and body since being indoors can make us feel lethargic. A typical late morning in my life starts with me having chamomile tea, slathering on some sunscreen, taking my dogs for a walk, pouring a few drops of my favorite oils into my Clay diffuser and having my brunch followed by shooting or editing depending on what I've planned for the day. I love how the mist calms me down on anxious days and helps me concentrate on work better. A cup of coffee, some quiet me-time and a calming mist is what I need while in bed on a no-work day or to unwind on a tiring afternoon.

Clay Essentials Air Matte Aromatherapy Diffuser | Lemongrass & Peppermint Essentials Oils

Spending time at home since last year made me reminisce about how I loved working at a café because of how it smelled, how I liked visiting a specific spa that smelled so beautiful and relaxing, and how I loved dinners at a favorite restaurant because the fragrance there reminded me of a special memory. It’s interesting how fragrances add to the ambience of a place and elevate our moods, making us want to go back to those places.

The lockdown this year drew my attention towards how I wanted my space to smell like and made me want to try fragrances for home in the form of candles, incense and aroma oils to keep the dullness at bay and give me an experience of the places I loved visiting. Also, with three furry friends in the house currently, the need to keep our space clean and smelling fresh has been even more on priority off late.

The collaboration with Clay happened around the same time after conversations with the kindest Sneh, the Founder of the brand who professionally understands fragrances, essential oils, their properties and the importance of a holistic lifestyle.  We spoke about the preference of aroma oils for my living space and zeroed down on lemongrass oil that’s known for rejuvenating and purifying, and peppermint oil for awakening and stimulating the mind and body since being indoors can make us feel lethargic.

These days, a typical morning in my life starts with me having chamomile tea , slathering on some sunscreen, taking my dogs for a walk, pouring a few drops of my favorite oils into my Clay diffuser and having my brunch followed by shooting or editing depending on what I’ve planned for the day. I love how the mist calms me down on anxious days and helps me concentrate on work better.

Clay has a wide range of essential oils that can be used for skincare and relaxation purposes and do not particularly require the diffuser. 2-3 drops of these oils can be added to any of your favorite carrier oils and massaged onto the face and body. They can also be added to your foot soak, bath or a few drops to your pillow for a relaxed sleep – the ways are endless.  For me, a cup of coffee, some quiet me-time and a calming mist is all I need while in bed on a no-work day or some post-shoot-time lazing on my couch. How do you unwind? Would love to know.
